Archeology<\/strong><\/p>\n

Myus, today known as Av\u015far Castle, was a peninsula on the sea coast in ancient times. Although it was one of the cities of the Ionian Union, it remained under the sovereignty of Miletus. Pausanias states that when the mud carried by the Menderes River turned the Gulf of Myus into a swamp, the people left the city due to disease, and settled in Miletus.<\/p>\n
