Archeology<\/strong><\/p>\n

Founded on the peninsula known today as K\u0131s\u0131k between G\u00fcm\u00fcld\u00fcr and \u00dcrkmez, the city is one of the Ionian cities and was established in the 7th century BC. Inhabited by people forcibly relocated from Ephesus, this ancient city never witnessed a thriving existence.
\nHowever, it is one of the cities that issued coins on behalf of the city in history. Scant remnants endure from the ancient city. The Hellenistic walls in the harbor, the Gymnasium and traces of the temple terrace and housing ruins that have survived until today can be seen on the slope of the hill behind it. Lebedos opened its doors to the Dionysian Artists’ Union who were expelled from Teos and became a refuge for artists.<\/p>\n
